Enhancement to Green Mark Incentive Scheme for Existing Buildings and Premises (GMIS-EBP)

1. One of the eligibility requirement for building owners was to have at least 30% SME tenants in their building and to participate in the energy improvement works. In support of building owners and to mitigate the hurdles in the green journey, the criteria for participation rate from SME tenants has been lowered to 10%.

2. The incentive scheme is now extended to office and retail buildings in Business Parks, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs), Voluntary Welfare Organisation (VWOs) and religious organisations.

3. The incentive scheme has been expanded to cover energy optimisation projects which does not involve replacement of chillers. In order to ensure energy savings through optimisation, building owner will be required to adopt Energy Performance Contracting (EPC), where EPC firms guarantee the committed energy savings.

(effective from 30 June 2016)
